Takashi Yagihashi has been lauded from consumers and critics alike for his exquisite ways of melding contemporary French, Asian and American cuisine. In 2000, Takashi graced the cover of Food and Wine as one of America’s ten “Best New Chefs” and in 2003, he was selected “Best Chef Midwest” by the esteemed James Beard Foundation. In 2011, Slurping Turtle brought Japanese comfort food to Chicago’s River North neighborhood becoming an instantaneous success and earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand Award in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, Slurping Turtle expanded to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Takashi has competed on Top Chef Masters (where he was awarded “fan favorite”), Iron Chef, and Top Chef Duels. He also appeared on the Martha Stewart Show and Top Chef as a judge.
